Terminals

Xenial Cloud Portal 4-Dot Menu Data Management Ordering Settings Hardware Terminals

To create a terminal:

  1. From the Terminals homepage, select New Terminal.

  2. From the menu pane on the left, select a page and define the respective settings.

    The following introduces the pages of the Terminals editor.

    General

    Define general settings about a terminal including its name and assigned terminal scheme.

    Peripherals

    Associate peripheral devices with the terminal, including printers, cash drawers, scanners, and line displays.

General

From the General page of the Terminals editor, define general settings for a terminal:

Setting

Description

Terminal Name

Type a name for the terminal.

Terminal Number

Type the terminal number.

Device Serial Number

Type the device's serial number.

Active

Toggle to Active if the terminal record is available to use at company sites.

Terminal Scheme

From the dropdown, select the terminal scheme to assign to the terminal.

Location

Type the location at the site where the physical terminal is located.

Tender Button Max

Type the maximum number of pay type buttons to display on the Tender screen at the POS.

If the number of pay type buttons exceeds this value, a More button is added to the Tender screen. The cashier selects More to access the additional pay type buttons that are not displayed.

Operate with Drawer Open

Toggle to On to allow the cashier to perform transactions while the physical cash drawer is open.

Change Due Override Timeout (Seconds)

Type the number of seconds to display the Change Due popup before displaying the Close button.

  • In the event communication is disrupted, the cashier selects Close to close the Change Due popup and return to the previous screen.

  • Valid values are 0-99. The default is 30.

Override Cash Threshold Site Preference

Toggle to Yes to allow this terminal to override the defined Cash Threshold value.

The Cash Threshold refers to the maximum currency amount a drawer can contain before the cashier is prompted to perform a Cash Pull transaction.

The Cash Threshold value is defined from the Ordering Application → Drawer section of the Preferences editors.

Cash Threshold Value

Type the maximum currency amount to allow a drawer to contain before the cashier is prompted to perform a Cash Pull transaction.

To disable this prompt, type 0 in this field.

Default Service Point

From the dropdown, select the default ordering or fulfillment service point for this terminal (if applicable).

Allow Secondary Displays

Toggle On if the terminal can operate with multiple displays (Windows and Android only).

For example, a terminal might use a secondary display for external applications or Web content.

When toggled On, the Secondary Displays Sets section appears. From this section, add the External Applications and/or URLs to distribute on the secondary displays.

Add External Applications

  1. From the upper-right of the Secondary Displays Sets section, select Add Secondary Display Set.

  2. From the Add Secondary Display Set window, select Add External Application.

  3. From the Add External Applications window, select the applications.

  4. Select Add External Applications.

  5. From the Add Secondary Display Set window, select Add Set.

Add Web Content

  1. From the upper-right of the Secondary Displays Sets section, select Add Secondary Display Set.

  2. From the upper-right of the Add Secondary Display Set window, select Add URL from the dropdown.

  3. In the URL field, type the URL for the Web content.

  4. Select Add URL.

  5. From the Add Secondary Display Set window, select Add Set.

Note

Add and configure External Applications and Web content using the  External Applications editor.

Peripherals

From the Peripherals page of the Terminals editor, associate peripheral devices with a terminal.

From each dropdown, select the specific peripheral device.

  • Dual cash drawers are only supported in Employee Banking Mode. See Drawers.

  • To the right of the Order Confirmation Board field, select Filtered Destinations to identify the order destinations to display on the peripheral device.

  • If a physical keyboard is attached to the terminal, toggle Physical Keyboard to On.
