Vehicles

There are several topics involving Drive-Thru Director Vehicles:

Fast and Slow Vehicles

Drive-Thru Director displays different vehicles based on performance.

Vehicle Type

Description

Fast Vehicle

Appears when the overall speed of service goal is consistently met. A Fast Vehicle is indicated by a sleek, 2-door vehicle.

Slow Vehicle

Appears when the overall speed of service goal is consistently missed. A Slow Vehicle is indicated by a sedan or other larger vehicle.

Vehicle Indicator Bubbles

Vehicle Indicator Bubbles display a variety of information, depending on configuration. Vehicle Indicator Bubbles appear in the following drive-thru segments:

  • Menu Board(s)

  • Waiting in Line

  • Pay Window

  • Pickup Window

The table below lists the information displayed in the Vehicle Indicator Bubble for each drive-thru segment:

Vehicle Indicator Bubble Colors

Vehicle Indicator Bubbles display speed of service information. The color of the bubble is a visual cue of the performance of the drive-thru team.

Bubble Color

Description

Green

The speed of service for the drive-thru segment is at or below the set goal.

Red

The speed of service for the drive-thru segment has exceeded the set goal.

Other Colors

Additional colors (such as light green, yellow, and/or orange) appear when Additional Goal Times are configured.

Note

It is possible to exceed a set goal in a drive-thru segment, but still maintain the overall goal for the entire drive-thru event.

Slowpoke Vehicles

Vehicles taking longer than 1 minute, 30 seconds (90 seconds) to travel from the menu board to the pay window or pickup window are considered Slowpokes. Slowpoke vehicles are removed from the screen, and do not count towards completed drive-thru events or average speed of service goals.

If a vehicle is in danger of becoming a Slowpoke, a warning bar appears above the vehicle. This warning bar is visible for 10 seconds before DTD determines that the vehicle is a Slowpoke and removes the vehicle from the screen.

If a pay window or pickup window detection occurs while the Slowpoke warning bar is visible, the on-screen vehicle moves to the appropriate detection area, just as a typical drive-thru event, and the Slowpoke warning bar is removed.

Note

Slowpoke standard defaults:

  • The standard Slowpoke time is 1 minute, 30 seconds (90 seconds).

  • The standard visibility time of the Slowpoke warning bar is 10 seconds.

These times are customizable, based on the request of the Parent Brand.

Extra Vehicles

An extra vehicle is a vehicle that appears on the screen, but does not represent an actual vehicle in the drive-thru. An extra vehicle may appear for a number of reasons, including:

  • A vehicle unexpectedly leaves the drive-thru.

  • A vehicle jumps in line by skipping the menu board.

  • Slowpoke vehicles, or vehicles that take "too long" to travel from the menu board to the pay window or pickup window.

Drive-Thru Director interprets extra vehicles as “Slowpokes” and their vehicle icons are removed from the screen. For more information, see Slowpoke Vehicles.
