Order Entry

Xenial Cloud Portal 4-Dot Menu Data Management Ordering Settings Hardware Terminal Scheme

From the Order Entry page of the Terminal Scheme editor, define order entry settings for a terminal scheme:

  1. From the Default Order Operation dropdown, select the default operation to perform after a customer's order is entered.

    Total

    Total and tender the order on the Tender screen.

    Save (Send)

    Send the order to another terminal where it is tendered.

  2. From the Available Order Options section, identify the order options that are available with this terminal scheme.

    See Available Order Options.

  3. From the Available System Navigation Options section, select the system navigation options to include on the System Navigation menu of the Ordering application.

    See Available System Navigation Options.

  4. From the Destinations section, select the order destinations that are valid for this terminal scheme.

    See Destinations.

  5. From the Default Destination dropdown, select the default order destination for this terminal scheme.

  6. From the Force Destination Selection dropdown, select an option that governs when the cashier is required to select an order destination for each order.

    Option

    Description

    Do Not Force

    Do NOT require the cashier to select an order destination.

    On Start of New Order

    Require the cashier to select an order destination at the start of each order.

    On Save/Total

    Require the cashier to select an order destination when the cashier selects the Save or Total button.

  7. Toggle Allow Quick Add of Order Items to On to enable the user to quickly add a discount to an order by typing the discount PLU.

    When enabled, a Quick Add button (+) is displayed in the upper-right of the Order Entry screen menu header at the POS.

    When the user at the POS selects the Quick Add button (+), an Add Item window opens with an alphanumeric keypad from which the user can type the discount PLU.

  8. Toggle Show Order Lane to On to display a selected order lane on the Order Entry screen.

    For example, display the Drive-Thru order lane on a Front Counter terminal scheme to enable the order taker at the front counter to access drive-thru orders during low-volume periods.

    • From the Order Lane dropdown, select the desired order lane.

  9. Select Overwrite Customer Details to identify the customer details the order taker is required to capture when entering orders using this terminal scheme.

    When this option is selected, a Customer Fields form is displayed. Select the customer details from this form.

    For each item listed in the Customer/Order Information column, select the desired option:

    No Prompt

    Do not prompt the order taker to capture this information.

    Optional

    Provide the option to capture this information.

    Required

    Require the order taker to capture this information.

  10. From the Prompt for customer details dropdown, specify when to prompt the order taker to capture customer details. The default selection is On Order Save (Total, Send).

  11. From the POS Item Level Actions section, select the item-level actions that are available to the user with this terminal scheme.

    • When an item action is selected, it is highlighted in blue and the checkbox is checked.

    • All actions are selected by default.

  12. Select Allow Multi-Select Mode to enable the order taker to select multiple items from the order item listbox and perform an action against all the items simultaneously.

  13. From the Order Combination section, select the desired behavior when two or more orders are combined at the POS.

Available Order Options

From the Available Order Options section, identify the order options that are available with this terminal scheme.

  1. From the upper-right of the Available Order Options section, select Add Item.

  2. From the Add Order Option window, select the desired order options.

    • To select all the listed options, select Option at the top of the list.

    • A terminal scheme must include the Save Order and/or Total Order options.

  3. From the lower-right of the Add Order Option window, select Done.

    • From the Available Order Options section, select and drag the control to the left of the listed options to sort them in the desired sequence.

    • To pin an option below the order item listbox on the POS, toggle Pinned to Yes.

      Pin up to six (6) options.

    • To remove an option from the list, select the option and then select Remove.

Available System Navigation Options

The System Navigation menu of the Ordering application includes functions that may not be necessary to all users. Limit the available functions to introduce guided workflows and prevent fraud.

From the Available System Navigation Options section, select the system navigation options to include on the System Navigation menu of the Ordering application.

  1. From the upper-right of the Available System Navigation Options section, select Add Item.

  2. From the Add System Navigation Option window, select the external application.

    • To select all the listed options, select Option at the top of the list.

  3. From the lower-right of the Add System Navigation Option window, select Done.

    • From the Available System Navigation Options section, select and drag the control to the left of the listed options to sort them in the desired sequence.

    • To remove an option from the list, select the option and then select Remove.

Destinations

From the Destinations section, select the order destinations that are valid for this terminal scheme.

To add order destinations to the terminal scheme:

  1. From the Available column, select the order destination.

  2. Select the right arrow to move the order destination to the Selected column.

    • To move ALL order destinations to the Selected column, select the double-right arrow.

To remove an order destination from the terminal scheme:

  1. From the Selected column, select the order destination.

  2. Select the left arrow to move the order destination to the Available column.

    • To move ALL order destinations to the Available column, select the double-left arrow.

Allow Multi-Select Mode

The following table describes the actions that support Multi-Select Mode.

Add a comment to the order for the kitchen staff.

Discount

Apply a discount to the order or order item.

Change Quantity

Change the quantity of an order item.

Duplicate

Duplicate an order item.

Change Price

Change the price of an order item.

Split Modify

Select an order item with a quantity greater than one and make unique modifications to one or more of the items.

Share

Allows the customers on a segmented order to share one or more items between them and split the cost.

Detailed Info

View detailed information about an order item.

Kitchen Hold

Enables the order taker to flag one or more items on an order so that when the order is committed (sent to the kitchen), the flagged items are NOT sent to the kitchen display or printed on the kitchen chit.

Once the Kitchen Hold flag is removed and the order is committed, the items are sent to the kitchen display and printed on the kitchen chit.

Move Items

Move items from one order segment to another.
