Heat Chute Modes

The Chef Heat Chute Panel has three (3) modes:

Mode

Description

Adaptive [Default]

Chef automatically selects and organizes the Top 10 products that appear in the Heat Chute Panel for each day part. Product selection organization is based on projections for the current 15 minute time period. Chef updates projections and reorganizes products, if necessary, every 15 minutes. The Adaptive mode is the default setting for the Chef Heat Chute Panel.

The Adaptive mode overrides manual Heat Chute configurations.

For more information, see Adaptive Mode (Default).

Manual

In Manual mode, products are manually selected and organized in The Portal. In Manual mode, the Heat Chute Panel only appears on the Chef screen for the time periods and products selected.

For more information, see Manual Mode.

Disabled [Off]

When the Off mode is selected, the Chef Heat Chute Panel does not appear on the Chef screen, even if products and time periods are manually selected and organized.

For more information, see Disable the Heat Chute Panel.

Additional details about the Adaptive mode:

  • The product organizational hierarchy:

    • Primary: "Now" field.

    • Secondary: "Name" field.

  • If a Top 10 product is not projected for the current 15 minute time period or the projected count is zero [0], that product is not displayed on the Heat Chute Panel.

  • If a day part change is approaching in the next 15 minutes, Chef reviews the projections for the next day part and determines:

    • If the product is available for the next day part and has a projected quantity, that quantity appears in the "in 15 minutes" field.

    • If the product is not available for the next day part or does not have a projected quantity, the current quantity appears in the "Now" field and dashes [---] appear in the "in 15 minutes" field.

Manual Mode

In Manual mode, products are manually selected and organized in The Portal. In Manual mode, the Heat Chute Panel only appears on the Chef screen for the time periods and products selected.

Additional details about Manual mode:

  • If the product does not have a projected quantity for the day, dashes [---] appear and a warning message appears.

  • If the product has a projected quantity for the day, but the current projection value is zero (0), the Heat Chute Panel displays "0".

Off Mode

When the Off mode is selected, the Chef Heat Chute Panel does not appear on the Chef screen, even if products and time periods are manually selected and organized.

  • Heat Chute projections are based on unmodified products unless otherwise configured.
