Chef Messenger

The PortalChefAdmin OptionsChef Messenger

Chef Messenger displays custom notifications. Message frequency and message acknowledgement is customizable.

Create Custom Message

The PortalChefAdmin OptionsChef Messenger

To create a custom message:

  1. From the upper-left of the Chef Messenger panel, select Add.

  2. In the message field, type a custom message.

  3. Select a clear message option.

    For more information, see Clear Message Options.

  4. Select if the message is active/inactive.

  5. Select message frequency.

    For more information, see Message Frequency.

Assign Custom Message

The PortalChefAdmin OptionsChef Messenger

To assign a custom message to a site:

  1. From the Chef Messenger panel, select the checkbox beside the message.

    See Create Custom Message for more information.

  2. From the upper-left of the Chef Messenger panel, select Assign for Store(s).

  3. From the Select Stores panel, select the checkbox beside the store(s) to assign the message.

  4. From the top of the Select Stores panel, select Save.

  5. On the Success Acknowledgement message, select OK.

  6. Repeat Step 1 to Step 5 for all assigned messages.

  7. From the menu list on the left of The Portal, select Sync Changes to Restaurants.

Edit Custom Message

The PortalChefAdmin OptionsChef Messenger

To edit a custom message:

  1. From the Chef Messenger panel, select the checkbox beside the message.

    See Create Custom Message for more information.

  2. From the upper-left of the Chef Messenger panel, select Edit.

  3. In the Edit Chef Message window, make the necessary changes.

  4. At the bottom of the Edit Chef Message window, select Save.

  5. On the Success Acknowledgement message, select OK.

  6. From the menu list on the left of The Portal, select Sync Changes to Restaurants.

Delete Custom Message

The PortalChefAdmin OptionsChef Messenger

To delete a custom message:

  1. From the Chef Messenger panel, select the checkbox beside the message.

    See Create Custom Message for more information.

  2. From the upper-left of the Chef Messenger panel, select Delete.

  3. On the Delete Acknowledgement message, select Yes.

    • Alternatively, select NO to exit without changes.

  4. On the Success Acknowledgement message, select OK.

  5. From the menu list on the left of The Portal, select Sync Changes to Restaurants.

Clear Message Options

The PortalChefAdmin OptionsChef Messenger

The Clear Message options are as follows:

Description

After 5 minutes

The custom Chef Message is cleared from the Chef screen after 5 minutes. Acknowledgement is not required.

After 15 minutes

The custom Chef Message is cleared from the Chef screen after 15 minutes. Acknowledgement is not required.

After 30 Minutes

The custom Chef Message is cleared from the Chef screen after 30 minutes. Acknowledgement is not required.

Never

The custom Chef Message remains visible on the Chef screen until an acknowledgement is received.

Message Frequency

The Message Frequency Options are as follows:

Minute

Every n Minute

Use the up/down arrows or type a number (from 1-59). This number (n) represents how often the message appears, in minutes.

Starting at

From the dropdown menu, select a time. The time represents the start time of the message.

Only on Certain Days

Select the checkbox to activate the day-of-the-week choices. Select each day that the message should appear.

Hour

Every n Hour

Use the up/down arrows or type a number (from 1-23). This number (n) represents how often the message appears, in hours.

Starting at

From the dropdown menu, select a time. The time represents the start time of the message.

Only on Certain Days

Select the checkbox to activate the day-of-the-week choices. Select each day that the message should appear.

Day

Starting at

From the dropdown menu, select a time. The time represents the start time of the message.

Only on Certain Days

Select the checkbox to activate the day-of-the-week choices. Select each day that the message should appear.

Month

Day of the Month

Use the up/down arrows or type a number (from 1-31). This number represents on which day of each month that the message appears.

Starting at

From the dropdown menu, select a time. The time represents the start time of the message.

Every n

Use the up/down arrows or type a number (n). The number range depends on the Unit selected.

Unit

From the dropdown menu, select a Unit: Minutes or Hours.

One-Time Message

Select the checkbox for a one-time message. The message is displayed on a specific day of a specific month at a specific time.
