Create Product

To create a new product:
From the upper-right of the Product List, select New Product.
In the Formal Name field, type the product name.
In the ID field, type the product ID.
From the Item Type dropdown, select Product.
In the Alternate Name field, type an alternate name to identify the product in reports and on customer-facing displays.
From the Reporting section, assign the product to major and minor reporting categories, which determine how the product is grouped on reports.
From the Major Category dropdown, select the major reporting category.
Select New Major Category to add a new category.
From the Minor Category dropdown, select the minor reporting category.
Select New Minor Category to add a new category.
From the Product Tags section, select the Tags field to assign tags to the product.
From the Taxation section, select a product tax group. The tax rates included in the selected group will be associated with the product.
From the Additional Information section, provide optional information to identify the product.
In the Item Description field, type a detailed description of the product.
In the Short Description field, type a short description.
From the Alternate PLUs section, assign PLUs to the product.
From the Accounting section, select the revenue general ledger account.
From the upper-right, select Save.
