Order Management System (OMS)
The Order Management System (OMS) is designed to facilitate the operations of kitchen staff. The OMS display includes crucial information to assist with timely order fulfillment. User interaction with the displayed content is executed through touchscreen input.
OMS | Order Status
After an order is taken at the point of sale (POS) or kiosk, it is transmitted to the OMS. Orders are grouped by status of either Open, Closed, or Future. There are options to print a receipt and provide an onscreen summary of orders.
Open Orders
All new orders begin as Open and appear as a ticket under the Open tab on the OMS. The Open tab includes an item count to represent the number of new (Open) orders.
Each Open order, or ticket, includes the following information about the order:
Order/ticket number
Elapsed time, which is the running time since the order was placed
Payment status, such as Paid, Not Paid
Order destination, such as Dine In
Order items, which include item quantity and details
After the order items have been prepared for the customer, the cook selects Finish to complete the order. Selecting Finish moves the order from the Open tab to the Closed tab on the OMS.
Closed Orders
Closed orders are those which have been fulfilled. These orders are tracked under the Closed tab on the OMS. The Closed tab includes an item count to represent the number of completed (Closed) orders.
Each Closed order, or ticket, includes the following information:
Order/ticket number
Date and time of the order
Fulfillment time
Payment status, such as Paid, Not Paid
Order destination, such as Dine In
Order items, which include item quantity and details
The status of a Closed order cannot be changed.
Future Orders
Orders that have been placed through Mobile/Online Ordering appear under the Future tab on the OMS. The Future tab includes an item count to represent the number of orders placed for future fulfillment.
Each Future order, or ticket, includes the following information:
Order/ticket number
Date and time of the order
Order due date and time
Payment status, such as Paid, Not Paid
Order destination, such as Pick Up
Order items, which include item quantity and details
The Future section is configured so that after a set time*, such as 15 minutes, an order moves from Future to Open so that preparation of the order can begin. For example, if a customer places an order and wants it to be ready at 11:30 a.m., the order will move from Future to Open at 11:15 a.m., so it can be acknowledged by the kitchen staff and prepared for the customer to pick up at their designated time.
Note
*This time can be changed upon request.
A Future order can be forced to an Open status by selecting Start, which is below the ticket number.
Order Status Indicator
A colored box outlines each order/ticket, representing the fulfillment time status:
Color | Status Description |
|---|---|
Green | Indicates that the order is within the acceptable threshold time for fulfillment. |
Red | Indicates that the fulfillment threshold time has expired. |
Blue | Indicates that a Future order is pending a move to an Open status. |
OMS | Routing
Each OMS has the option for filters which can route orders based on the order items. For example, all burgers can be routed with their modifiers to the OMS that is nearest to the grill.
The double arrows at the bottom of the OMS display provide access to an Options menu that can be used to re-route orders. When selected, the Options menu appears with information on other OMS devices and their status.
For information on routing configuration steps, see OMS Order Routing.
OMS | Printing
Receipts can be configured to print automatically or can be printed manually from the OMS. Each Open and Closed order/ticket includes a Print option.
OMS | Summary
Statistical information is provided in the Summary tab of the OMS. The Summary tab includes the following information:
Total Transactions
Average Fulfillment Time
Transactions by Origin, OMS and total
Open Items, item details and count
Orders by Hour, totals
OMS | Notifications
The OMS features multiple ways to notify, or alert, the user of information. These notifications include an On Time % and System Alert.
On Time %
The On Time % notification is located at the top of the OMS display, and shows the percentage of orders that are on time, which is within the fulfillment threshold.
System Alert
The System Alert is a color-coded notification system, designed to provide real-time notifications regarding the operating status of the system. This notification is located at the top of the OMS display.
The color codes are:
Color | Description |
|---|---|
Green | All systems are okay. |
Yellow | OMS is not communicating with myNEXTEP. |
Red | Something is wrong. For example, a printer is down. |
