The following describes how to configure employee job settings, including job codes and job groups.

Job Codes

The job code records are available for selection when assigning job codes to employee records.

Job Code Rates

Specify the compensation associated with job codes.

Job Code Categories

Create and manage the categories to which job codes are assigned.

Examples of job code categories include: Front of HouseKitchen, and Management.

Job Groups

Create and manage job code groups. Job groups are used in reporting to optimize the number of labor matrices.

To create a job code:

  1. From the Job Code List homepage, select New Job Code.

  2. Define the following:

    Field

    Description

    Job Name

    Name of the job code.

    Job Code Category

    Select the category to assign to this job code.

    Note

    Populate this dropdown with the Job Code Categories editor.

    Role

    Select the user role to assign to this job code.

    Note

    Populate this dropdown with the Roles editor.

    Parent Job

    Select the parent job to associate with this job code (if applicable).

    Tip Category

    Select the tip category to assign to the job code:

    • Indirect - Employees receive tips through either tip pooling or tip splitting.

    • No - Employees do not receive tips.

    • Yes - Employees receive tips directly from guests.

    Standard Shift Length (Hours)

    Length (in hours) of a standard shift for this job code.

    External ID

    External identifier for the job code.

    External identifiers are references used by external third-party systems, such as an accounting system.

    Job Group

    Assign the job code to a job group (if applicable).

    Note

    Populate this dropdown with the Job Groups editor.

    Is Managerial Position

    Job code is a managerial position.

    Is Server Position

    Job code is identified with the Table Service Restaurant position of Server.

    Allow Primary Position

    Job code can be identified as an employee's Primary Job.

    If User has All Orders Privilege

    Determines the behavior of the POS when employees with this job code have permission to view all orders:

    • Operate As Cashier – When the employee performs an action on an order assigned to another employee:

      • The action is attributed to the employee who performed it.

      • The ownership of the order is transferred to the employee who performed the action.

    • Operate As Manager – When the employee performs an action on an order assigned to another employee:

      • The action is attributed to the owner of the order.

      • The current owner of the order retains ownership of the order.

    Job Color

    Select the field to choose a color to associate with the job code.

    The selected color is used to quickly identify the job code on labor schedules.

    Set Default Menu

    Select this option to assign a default menu to this job code.

    From the dropdown, select the menu to open at the POS by default when an employee with this job code first opens the Order Entry screen.

    Usage

    Select the desired option(s):

    • Punch - Make this job code available for selection to employees at Clock In.

    • Schedule - Make this job code available for selection to store managers when creating a labor schedule.

To create a job code rate:

  1. From the Job Code Rate List homepage, select New Job Code Rate.

  2. Define the following:

    Field

    Description

    Job Code

    Select the job code to associate with this rate.

    Note

    Populate this dropdown with the Job Codes editor.

    Compensation Type

    Select the compensation type:

    • Hourly - Paid a fixed rate for each hour worked.

    • Salary - Paid a fixed rate not based on number of hours worked.

    Min Rate

    Minimum rate an employee earns with this job code.

    Max Rate

    Maximum rate an employee earns with this job code.

    Included in pay calculations

    Include time clock records for this job code rate when calculating labor cost.

    Base Rate

    Base rate an employee earns with this job code.

    The base rate is the initial compensation rate that excludes bonuses, overtime pay, benefits, and raises.

    External ID

    Unique ID used by external partners / integrators to identify the job code.

To create a job code category:

  1. From the Job Code Category List homepage, select New Job Code Category.

  2. Define the following:

    Field

    Description

    Name

    Name of the job code category

    Description

    Description of the job code category

Job Groups

To create a job group:

  1. From the Job Group List homepage, select New Job Group.

  2. Define the following:

    Field

    Description

    Name

    Name of the job group.

    ID

    ID code for the job group.

    Description

    Description of the job group.

    External ID

    External ID for the job group.

    External identifiers are references used by external third-party systems, such as an accounting system.

    Job Codes

    Select the job code(s) to include in the job group.

    Note

    A job code cannot be added to more than one (1) job group.

    Primary

    Toggle Yes if the job codes in the group are identified as a Primary Job for employees.
