Create Site

Genius PortalSites

To create a new site:

  1. From the upper-right of the Sites homepage, select Create Site.

  2. From the left menu pane, select a page and define the respective settings.

    The following introduces the pages of the New Site editor.

    General

    Define site details, location details, site aliases, and tax identifiers.

    Services

    Add and configure service subscriptions for the site.

    Set Values for Custom Fields

    If applicable, set values for company-defined custom fields. For more information, see Create Custom Fields for Sites.

    Role Overrides

    Customize existing company roles for the site.

    Contacts

    View individuals identified as contacts for the company.

    Use the Contacts editor to add and manage personal contacts.

General

From the General page of the Sites editor, define site details, location details, site aliases, and tax identifiers.

  1. From the Site Details section, define the following:

    Setting

    Description

    Name

    Site name

    Site ID

    Identification code for the site

    Environment

    Select the environment type:

    • Production - Live site where guests are served

    • QATest - Where software is tested before released to a lab

    • Site-Lab - Where lab testing is performed

    • Training - Used to train staff

    Business Type

    Select the option that best describes the type of business environment at the site:

    • QSR - Quick Service Restaurant

    • Retail - Retail Store

    • TSR - Table Service Restaurant

    The following business types are available with an enabled Venue Inventory (VI) subscription:

    • Suite Pantry - Site where Suite Catering products are stored.

    • Vending Commissary - Site where hawkers load and reload salable products.

    • Primary Warehouse - Primary Site where products are stored before export or distribution.

      More than one (1) site may be identified.

    • Warehouse - Site where products are stored before export or distribution.

    Use EDM settings to update DM

    Toggle Yes if Data Management is used to update system configuration.

    Website

    URL for the website of the site

    Email

    Email address of the site

    Support Phone Number

    Phone number for technical support

    Select the preferred value:

    • Use Company Settings - Use phone number from company profile. See Setup Company Profile.

    • Custom - Type the phone number in the provided field.

    Preferred Language

    Select the preferred language for the application UI.

  2. Skip the Site Hierarchies section. After the site is created, you can add the site to Site Hierarchies.

  3. From the Location section, define the following:

    Select the country where the site is located.

    Address

    In the provided fields, type the street address for the site.

    City

    In the provided field, type the city name.

    State/Province/Region

    Select the state/province/region.

    Zip/Postal Code

    In the provided field, type the Zip/Postal Code.

    Phone Number

    In the provided field, type the phone number.

    Time Zone

    Select the time zone where the site is located.

  4. From the Aliases section, add an alias key for the site (if necessary). Add a maximum of twenty (20) aliases.

    +Add New Alias

    To add an alias key:

    1. Select +Add New Alias.

    2. In the Key field, type the alias key.

    3. In the Value field, type the key value.

    4. Select Create.

  5. From the Identifiers section, specify tax identifiers. Tax identifiers are printed on guest receipts to comply with tax legislation for the country or province.

    Federal Tax

    Site identifier for Federal Tax.

    For example, the registration number for GST/HST levied by Canada Revenue Agency.

    If the mandatory does not have the GST registration number, type 000000000RT0000

    State/Province Tax

    Site identifier for State/Province Tax.

    For example, the registration number for QST levied by Revenue Quebec.

    If the mandatory does not have QST Registration Number, type 0000000000TQ0000

    Important

    WEB-SRM Users

    Coordinate tax identifier changes with Revenue Quebec. Any tax identifier changes made in Genius Portal not confirmed by Revenue Quebec will result in disruption of operations.

Set Values for Custom Fields

To access custom fields:

  1. From the Genius Portal menu on the left, select Sites.

  2. From the Sites editor, either: select a site from the list or select Create Site.

  3. From the Site menu on the left, select Custom Fields.

  4. In Custom Fields, set values for the provided fields:

    Use the keyboard to type a value in the text field—maximum characters: 1024

    Use the toggle to activate/deactivate option

Services

To add a service:

  1. From the upper-right of the Services screen, select Add Service.

  2. From the Add Services window, select the service subscriptions.

  3. From the lower-right of the Add Services window, select Add Services.

Services that require configuration are highlighted in yellow on the Services list. To configure service subscriptions:

  1. On the row of the service, select the 3-dot menu.

  2. From the dropdown, select Edit.

  3. Complete the configuration form for the service.

  4. From the lower-right of the configuration form, select Done.

Role Overrides

To customize company roles for a site:

  1. From the upper-right of the Role Overrides page, select Add Role Override.

  2. From the Choose Role to Override window, select the role to customize.

  3. From the lower-right of the window, select Continue.

  4. In the Role Override Description field, type a description of the customized role.

  5. From the menu pane on the left, select POS to view the POS role permissions.

    • Next to each permission category on the POS Overrides page are two numbers in parentheses.

      The first number is the number of permissions that are currently enabled.

      The second number is the total number of permissions that exist in that category.

    • Drill down/expand a category to view the subcategories and the individual permissions in that category (where applicable).

      A description of each subcategory and individual permission is displayed in the Description column.

  6. To enable a permission, toggle Allowed to Yes.

  7. From the upper-right of the Role Overrides page, select Done.

Notes about Role Permissions

  • Next to a category name, toggle Allowed to Yes to enable ALL permissions in that category.

  • From the upper-right of the screen, select the 3-dot menu to access the following actions:

    • Expand All - Expand all listed permission sections.

    • Collapse All - Collapse all listed permission sections.

    • Enable All Permissions - Enable all listed permissions.

    • Disable All - Disable all listed permissions.

    • Enable View Only Access - Set all listed permissions to "View Only".

    • Set All to Role Default - Set all permissions to the default value for the role.

  • From the upper-right of the screen, select Undo Last to undo the last operation.
