Digital Menu Board Overview

The following introduces the utilities that are used to create and configure Digital Menu Board (DMB) content.

To access and navigate the DMB utilities:

  1. From the upper-right of the Genius Portal, open the 4-dot menu.

  2. From the 4-dot menu, select Digital Menu Board.

  3. From the navigation menu on the left, select a DMB utility. The table below describes each utility.

    Description

    Content Deployment

    • Schedule the date and time of Content Layout deployments to selected sites.

    • View details about previous deployments and redeploy as needed to selected sites.

    • Redeploy previous deployments as needed to selected sites.

    Content Designs

    Create and design the content displayed on DMB screens.

    Content Layouts

    Create and manage Content Layouts, which consist of a selected Display Schema with specific screen assignments for each Daypart.

    Dayparts

    Create and manage the Dayparts that are used to create display schedules.

    Daypart examples: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Late Night.

    Display Schemas

    • Create and manage collections or schemas of DMB displays. Specify the orientation and resolution of each display in the schema.

    • Display Schemas are available for selection when creating a Content Layout.

    Fonts

    Upload custom fonts that can be used to format Text and Product Pricing components on DMB screens.

    Schedules

    Create and manage the schedules that determine when specific DMB content is displayed.

    Site Manager

    • Access the list of DMB sites, view the Content Layouts at each site, and generate the Share Code that is used to link DMB content to devices.

    • View and sync Daypart Schedules for DMB content.

    • View and manage Display Sleep configurations.

Troubleshooting

What if the preferred screen and/or Content Layout is not available for selection when linking a device?

Follow these steps to redeploy the Content Layout and refresh the setup screens:

  1. From the DMB app on the Genius Portal, review the Content Layout to ensure the preferred screen is assigned, and then deploy the Content Layout to the site. See Deploy Content Layout.

  2. From the upper-left of the screen on the device, select Go Back to return to the share code screen.

  3. Resubmit the share code.

  4. Confirm the screen (display) and Content Layout are now available for selection.

How does one access the setup screens for the linked device?

There are two ways to access the setup screens:

  • From the remote control for the device, press and release the following three (3) buttons one at a time:

    • Unlabeled yellow button (located at the bottom)

    • Rewind (<<)

    • OK

  • From the remote control for the device, press and release the number 4 button four times

Why is the TV constantly rebooting?

When Auto Set is enabled, error logs could be generated, which causes the TV to reboot. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. From the remote control for the device, press the Settings button.

  2. Select EZ Settings > SI Server Settings.

  3. Select SI Server Settings again.

  4. Set Auto Set to OFF.

What if an ‘Invalid Share code’ error is generated on a TV during the registration process?

To configure the time and date on the device:

  1. From the remote control for the device, select Settings.

  2. From the menu pane on the left of Settings, select General.

  3. From the General menu, select Time & Date.

  4. Toggle Set Automatically ON.

  5. From the Time Zone field, select the local time zone settings.
