Fulfillment Statues for Orders and Order Items

Fulfillment Status is an order and item entity that reflects a meal preparation status. Each order item has its own fulfillment status from which an order-level fulfillment status can be inferred.

Fulfillment Status Values

The fulfillment status values are:

Value

Order Item Description

Pending

The item has not been sent for preparation. The item has been added to the order but has not yet been sent to either Kitchen Video Screens or Kitchen Printers.

Submitted

The item has been sent for preparation. The item has been sent to Kitchen Video Screen(s) and/or Kitchen Printer(s) for preparation.

Note

Currently, the point of sale (POS) forwards future orders to the Kitchen Video Screen immediately upon receipt, so items in such orders have a submitted fulfillment_status prior to when they display in the kitchen.

Preparing

The item is being prepared in the kitchen. Currently, the only event that should transition an order item to the Preparing fulfillment_status is when an item is claimed at a Kitchen Video Screen station.

Ready

The item preparation is complete, and the item is available to be served to the customer. Items that are completed at all Kitchen Video Screens to which they are sent, either by the individual item being marked as Ready or by it being bumped from all screens (manual or auto-bump).

Fulfilled

The item has been delivered to the customer. The Serve event, applied to an order from the POS, transitions all items in the order that do not have a Canceled fullfillment_status value to Fulfilled.

Canceled

The item should not be fulfilled. Deleting or voiding an item at the POS transitions its fulfillment_status to Canceled if it is not already Fulfilled.

On Hold

The item should not be sent for preparation. Currently, only the Table Service (TSR) feature to place items on hold causes a transition to this value.

Note

The order state and order fulfillment status are two individual entities. The order may have Closed state even if some items are not in Fulfilled status.

Drive Thru Only Flow

Some Drive Thru terminal scheme configurations require an order be paid at one terminal and served at another terminal. For this reason, it is necessary to keep the paid orders and the correspondent identification on the screen for the orders to be processed correctly.

Order Fulfillment Status Indication at POS

The order fulfillment status indications at the point of sale (POS) include the following configurations:

  • Orders with a fulfillment status other than Ready do not display any indications.

  • Orders with a Ready fulfillment status have a Ready indication on the Drive Thru screen. That means that the order can be paid and served.

Show Paid Orders

Configuration to show paid orders includes:

  • Fully paid orders created for the drive thru destination are displayed on the Drive Thru screen and Drive Thru Destination of the Saved&Suspended: Drive Thru orders screen.

  • Orders that have a Pay button next to them have not paid.

  • Orders that have a Serve button next to them have been paid and can be served to the customer.

    Note

When a paid order is served, it is cleared from both the point of sale (POS) and Kitchen Video Screens.

  • A fully paid order cannot be reopened to add new or remove existing items.

  • A fully paid order that does not have a Fulfilled status can be served.

  • The Serve operation transitions the fulfillment status of the order, and its unserved valid items, to Fulfilled.

Required Settings

The Show paid orders feature is enabled by the setting Show Unfulfilled Paid orders for the Terminal Scheme. For the setting configuration steps, see Terminal Scheme - General in the Genius Product Documentation.

Serve Order Flow

When the order is fully paid and has a Serve indication, the cashier can serve the order to customer. The Serve Order Flow:

  1. From the Drive Thru screen, select Serve.

  2. From the Are you sure you want to serve order <order number>?, select Apply.

  3. The order is cleared from these screens:

    • Drive Thru

    • Saved&Suspended: Drive Thru

    • Kitchen Video Screen

Note

The order can be paid at the Front Window terminal and served at the Drive Thru terminal. The order does not disappear from the Drive Thru screen until it is served to the customer.

Open Paid Order

The fully paid orders cannot be opened again from the Order Entry screen or the Open & Suspended screen.
