Variant Type

Use the Variant Type editor to create product variant types for the following usage types:
Usage | Description |
|---|---|
Item Conversion | The variant type is used to convert an item at the POS to a different size or to convert an À la Carte item to a combo meal. |
Variant Build | The variant type is used to create product variant builds. A variant build is a list of products that have assigned variants that can be added to an order. Use the Variant Builds editor to create variant builds. |
Item Conversion

To create a variant type for Item Conversion:
From the Variant Type List homepage, select New Variant Type.
From the Variant Type Usage dropdown, select Item Conversion.
From the lower-right of the Create Variant Type window, select Continue.
In the Name field, type the name of the variant type.
In the Code field, type an identification code for the record.
From the Sync Product Variations dropdown, select the synchronization method for product variations:
Sync All - This is the default method for the Size variant type.
Prompt - This is the default method for the Meal variant type.
From the upper-right of the screen, select Save.
Variant Build

To create a variant type for variant builds:
From the Variant Type List homepage, select New Variant Type.
From the Variant Type Usage dropdown, select Variant Build.
From the lower-right of the Create Variant Type window, select Continue.
In the Name field, type the name of the variant type.
In the Code field, type an identification code for the record.
From the upper-right of the screen, select Save.
