Define Pricing for a Product

Open the Price page of the Product List editor to define pricing settings for a product including:

Define the Standard Product Price

To specify the price of the product at the Ordering application when it is added to an order:

Single-Site User

  1. From the pane on the left, open the Price page of the product record.

  2. On the Price page, locate the Pricing section.

  3. Set the Open Price toggle to Yes to prompt the order taker to specify the product price at the Ordering application when it is added to an order.

  4. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the product is added to a guest's order.

  5. In the Price field, type the product price.

Multi-Site User

  1. From the pane on the left, open the Price page of the product record.

  2. On the Price page, locate the Pricing section.

  3. Use the Open Price toggle to control whether the order taker is prompted to enter the product price at the Ordering application when it is added to an order. Select the globe icon to define the toggle value for each site.

  4. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the product is added to a guest's order.

  5. To the right of the Price field, select the globe icon to open the Edit Price form.

    • Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the product is added to a guest's order.

    • Select Review Changes to review the price change(s).

    • Select Confirm and Close to confirm the price change(s).

      Select the down arrow next to Confirm and Close for additional options:

      • Select Confirm and Close to confirm the price change(s).

      • Confirm and Duplicate – Confirm the changes and duplicate them for additional sites.

Define Pricing Rules for a Product

Define rules for how a product is priced when certain conditions are met. For example, define a rule to charge a different price based on the time of day and/or the respective order source.

To define product pricing rules:

Define General Settings

  1. From the pane on the left, open the Price page of the product record.

  2. On the Price page, locate the Pricing Rules section.

  3. Select Add Product Pricing Rule. The Pricing Rule form opens.

  4. In the Name field, type a name for the pricing rule.

  5. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if tax is already included in the defined price. The product will not be taxed at the POS.

  6. From the Price Adjustment field, select the applicable option:

    • Replace - Replace the standard price with the value specified in the Adjustment Value field.

    • Amount - Adjust the standard price by the value specified in the Adjustment Value field.

  7. In the Adjustment Value field, type the price/amount by which the standard price is replaced/adjusted. This value corresponds with the Price Adjustment option selected in the previous step.

Define Conditions

Define at least one condition for the pricing rule.

  1. On the Pricing Rule form, locate the Conditions section.

  2. Set the Any Order Sources toggle to the desired value:

    • Yes - Apply the rule regardless of the order source.

    • No - Only apply the rule with certain order sources. From the Order Sources dropdown, select the applicable order source(s).

  3. Set the Any Time Period toggle to the desired value:

    • Yes - Apply the rule regardless of the time period.

    • No - Only apply the rule during certain time periods. From the Time Periods dropdown, select the applicable time period(s).

    Nota

    • If a customer's order is entered and saved at the Ordering application during one time period and tendered in another, the product pricing defined for the time period when the order was originally entered is used during the tender process.

    • Time periods are defined using the Time Period editor, which is available from the following menu:

Save the Record

Select Add Product Pricing Rules to save the record and close the Pricing Rule form.

  • The pricing rule is added to the list of rules in the Pricing Rules section.

  • Select and drag the control to the left of each rule to sort the list by lowest-to-highest priority (where the rule at the top of the list has the highest priority).

Define Child-Item Pricing for a Product

A product can be priced differently when it is ordered as a child item versus when it is ordered à la carte.

For example, the "Medium French Fries" product is $0.99 when ordered à la carte and $0.79 when ordered as a child item of the "Friday Combo Meal".

To define a child item pricing rule:

Name the Pricing Rule

  1. From the pane on the left, open the Price page of the product record.

  2. On the Price page, locate the Child-Item Pricing Rules section.

  3. Select Add Product Child-Item Pricing Rule. The Child-Item Pricing Rule form opens.

  4. In the Set Name field, type a name for the rule.

Choose the Eligible Parent Products

  1. On the Child-Item Pricing Rule form, locate the Choose Products section.

  2. From the Select Product dropdown, select the desired option.

    • Specific Product – Define the price of the product when it is a child of one or more specific products.

    • Group of Products (tags) – Define the price of the product when it is a child of any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

    • Tags and Specific Products – Define the price of the product when it is a child of one or more specific products OR any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

  3. Select the applicable products and/or tags for this child item pricing rule. The available fields are determined by the option selected in the previous step.

    • From the Individual Products dropdown, select the specific products. When the product is ordered as a child of any of the selected products, the child item pricing rule is applied.

    • From the Parent Tag(s) dropdown, select the tags. Every product associated with the selected tags is an eligible parent item. When the product is a child of any of these items, the child item pricing rule is applied.

Define the Child Item Pricing

  1. Locate the Pricing section of the Child-Item Pricing Rule form.

  2. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to On if the child price includes all applicable taxes. When this option is selected, tax will not be applied again when the product is added to a customer's order.

  3. Set the Quantity Based toggle to On to enable the Pricing by Quantity feature. When enabled, the price of the product is determined by the quantity that is added to the customer's order.

    For example, the first slice of garlic bread provided with an order is free, but each additional slice is $1.99.

  4. From the Price Adjustment dropdown, select the desired method for adjusting the standard item price.

    • Replace – Replace the standard price with a specified price.

    • Amount - Adjust the standard price by a specified amount when the quantity ordered is within this range.

  5. Select the Adjustment Value field to specify the price/amount by which the standard price is adjusted.

Nota

When the Quantity Based toggle is set to On, the Price Adjustment dropdown and Adjustment Value field are removed from the form.

Configure Pricing by Quantity (optional)

When the Quantity Based toggle is set to On to enable the Pricing by Quantity feature, additional fields are displayed.

  1. From the Child Product Type dropdown, select the desired option.

    • Specific Product – Define the price of the product when it is a child of one or more specific products.

    • Group of Specific Products – Define the price of the product when it is a child of any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

    • Both – Define the price of the product when it is a child of one or more specific products OR any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

  2. Select the applicable products and/or tags for this pricing rule. The available fields are determined by the selected option in the previous step.

    • From the Child Products dropdown list, select the child products for this pricing rule.

    • From the Child Tag(s) dropdown list, select the tags. Every product associated with the selected tags is included in this pricing rule.

  3. Under the Pricing by Quantity section, select Create to define a new pricing by quantity rule. Repeat the following steps to add each quantity range and its respective price.

    • Use the +/- buttons to set the Range Start to the lowest product quantity in the range.

    • Use the +/- buttons to set the Range End to the highest product quantity in the range.

    • From the Price Adjustment dropdown, select the desired option.

      • Replace – Replace the standard price with a specific price when the quantity ordered is within this range.

      • By Amount - Adjust the standard price by a specific amount when the quantity ordered is within this range.

    • Select the Adjustment Value field to specify the price/amount by which the price is replaced/adjusted.

Define Conditions

  1. On the Child-Item Pricing Rule form, locate the Conditions section.

  2. Set the Any Order Sources toggle to the desired value:

    • Yes - Apply the rule regardless of the order source.

    • No - Only apply the rule with certain order sources. From the Order Sources dropdown, select the applicable order source(s).

Save & Close the Record

Select Add Product Child-Item Pricing Rules to save the rule and return to the Price page.

  • The pricing rule is added to the list of rules in the Child-Item Pricing Rules section.

  • Select and drag the control to the left of each rule to sort the list by lowest-to-highest priority (where the rule at the top of the list has the highest priority).

Define the Vendor Cost of a Product

To define how much the product costs when purchased from a vendor:

  1. From the pane on the left, open the Price page of the product record.

  2. On the Price page, locate the Cost section.

  3. In the Cost field, type the vendor cost.
