Install Self-Service XDMB (Non-Android)

The following describes how to install the Self-Service DMB (XDMB) application on a Non-Android device:

Uninstall the SoC Application

Before installing XDMB on a device, uninstall the SoC application:

  1. From the remote control for the device, select Home.

  2. Select the Up arrow.

  3. Select OK.

  4. When prompted to confirm the operation, select OK.

Install the XDMB Application

To install the XDMB application on a Non-Android device:

  1. From the remote control for the device, select Settings.

  2. From the Settings screen, confirm the device is connected to the Internet:

    • From the menu pane on the left, select General.

    • From the General menu, select System Information and set the applicable setting value:

      Cable users:

      Set Connection(Ethernet) to Connected to Internet.

      WiFi users:

      Set WiFi Connection to Connected.

  3. From the Settings screen, set the time and date on the device:

    • From the menu pane on the left, select General.

    • From the General menu, select Time & Date.

    • Toggle Set Automatically ON.

    • From the Time Zone field, select the local time zone settings.

  4. From the Settings screen, select the desired orientation (Portrait or Landscape) for the display. The location of this setting is unique to each display brand.

  5. From the Settings screen, define server settings:

    • From the menu pane on the left, select Ez Setting.

    • From the Ez Setting menu, select SI Server Setting.

    • From the SI Server Setting menu, select SI Server Setting.

    • Configure the SI Server Settings:

      Fully Qualified Domain Name

      • Toggle ON.

      • In the Fully Qualified Domain Name field, type the app setup URL with the latest app version.

      To determine the app setup URL with the latest app version:

      • From a browser, go to:

        https://distributor-api-dmb.xenial.com/v1/status

      • From the second line on the displayed page, find the app version.

      • In the following app setup URL, replace the hash signs (####) with the app version:

        https://builds-dmb.xenial.com/xdmb-lg####.ipk

        For example, if the app version is 1.0.176, then the app setup URL would be:

        https://builds-dmb.xenial.com/xdmb-lg1.0.176.ipk

      • In the Fully Qualified Domain Name field, type the app setup URL with the latest app version.

      Application Launch Mode

      Select Local.

      Application Type

      Select IPK.

      Auto Set

      Toggle OFF.

      Local Application Upgrade

      • Select Remote.

      • From the Application Upgrade popup, select Confirm to launch the installation.

      • Once the installation is complete, select OK.

  6. From the physical device, press the Power button to turn the device OFF.

    Importante

    Do NOT use the remote control to power off the device. The remote control sets the device in Standby mode.

  7. From the physical device, press the Power button to turn the device ON. The XDMB application launches automatically.

Link Device to Display Layout

When XDMB launches for the first time on a device, a share code is required to link the device to a display layout on the Xenial Cloud Portal.

A share code is a unique 5-digit code that is generated for a specific site and its device. A share code cannot be used to link devices at more than one site.

To generate a share code for a site, see Generate Share Code.

To link a Non-Android device to an XDMB display layout:

  1. Please wait for the XDMB App to launch on the device. When the device prompts for the share code, use the remote control for the device to enter the 5-digit code.

  2. After the share code is entered, the message "Validating Share Code" is displayed. Please wait while the code is validated.

  3. From the Select a Layout screen, select the desired display layout.

  4. From the Select a Display screen, select the desired display.

  5. After the layout and display selections are made, the message "Registering Device" is displayed. Please wait while the device is registered.

  6. Please wait while the XDMB content is downloaded and displayed on the screen.
