Define Pricing for a Modifier

Open the Pricing page of the Modifier List editor to define pricing settings for a modifier including:

Define the Standard Modifier Price

To define the standard price for a modifier:

Single-Site User

  1. Locate the Pricing section of the Pricing page of the modifier record.

  2. Set the Open Price toggle to Yes to prompt the order taker to specify the modifier price at the Ordering application when it is added to an order.

  3. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the modifier is added to an order.

  4. In the Price field, type the modifier price.

  5. From the Roll Up Price dropdown, select the applicable option. The selected option determines how the product price is rolled up into a parent product price.

    • Do Not Roll Up - Do not roll up the price to the parent product price.

    • Roll Up After Tax - Roll up the price to the parent product price after tax is applied.

    • Roll Up Before Tax - Roll up the price to the parent product price before tax is applied.

Multi-Site User

  1. Locate the Pricing section of the Pricing page of the modifier record.

  2. Set the Open Price toggle to Yes to prompt the order taker to specify the modifier price at the Ordering application when it is added to an order. Select the globe icon to define the toggle value for each site.

  3. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the modifier is added to an order.

  4. To the right of the Price field, select the globe icon to open the Edit Price editor.

    • In the New Price field for each listed site, type the standard price of the modifier. If the price is the same at all sites, type the price in the Set All field.

    • Select Review Changes to review the price change(s).

    • Select Confirm and Close to confirm the price change(s).

      Select the down arrow for additional options:

      • Confirm and Return to View and Edit – Confirm the changes and return to the view and edit screen to make additional changes.

      • Confirm and Duplicate – Confirm the changes and duplicate them for additional sites.

  5. From the Roll Up Price dropdown, select the applicable option. The selected option determines how the product price is rolled up into a parent product price.

    • Do Not Roll Up - Do not roll up the price to the parent product price.

    • Roll Up After Tax - Roll up the price to the parent product price after tax is applied.

    • Roll Up Before Tax - Roll up the price to the parent product price before tax is applied.

Define Child Item Pricing for a Modifier

Define how a modifier is priced when it is ordered as a child of another product.

To define a child item pricing rule for a modifier:

Name the Pricing Rule

  1. On the Pricing page of the modifier record, locate the Child-Item Pricing Rules section.

  2. Select Add Modifier Child-Item Pricing Rule. The Child-Item Pricing Rule form opens.

  3. Locate the General section.

  4. In the Set Name field, type a name for the rule.

Choose Eligible Parent Products

  1. On the Child-Item Pricing Rule form, locate the Choose Products section.

  2. From the Select Product dropdown, select the applicable option. This rule defines the price of the modifier when it is a child of:

    • Specific Product – One or more specific products.

    • Group of Products (tags) – Any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

    • Tags and Specific Products – One or more specific products -OR- any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

  3. Select the applicable products and/or tags for this child item pricing rule. The available fields are determined by the option selected in the previous step.

    • From the Individual Products dropdown, select the specific products. When the modifier is ordered as a child of any of the selected products, the child item pricing rule is applied.

    • From the Parent Tag(s) dropdown, select the tags. Every product associated with the selected tags is an eligible parent item. When the modifier is a child of any of these items, the child item pricing rule is applied.

Define the Child Item Pricing

  1. On the Child-Item Pricing Rule form, locate the Pricing section.

  2. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to Yes if the child price includes all applicable taxes. When this option is selected, tax is not applied again when the modifier is added to an order.

  3. Set the Quantity Based toggle to Yes to enable the Pricing by Quantity feature. When enabled, the price of the modifier is determined by the quantity added to the order.

    For example, the first cup of ketchup provided with an order is free, but each additional cup is $0.50.

  4. From the Price Adjustment field, select the desired method for adjusting the standard item price.

    • Replace – Replace the standard price with a specified price.

    • Amount - Adjust the standard price by a specified amount when the quantity ordered is within this range.

  5. Select the Adjustment Value field to specify the price/amount by which the standard price is adjusted.

Note

When the Quantity Based toggle is set to Yes, the Price Adjustment and Adjustment Value fields are removed from the form.

Configure Pricing by Quantity

When the Quantity Based toggle is set to On to enable the Pricing by Quantity feature, additional fields are displayed.

  1. From the Modifier Type dropdown, select the applicable option. This rule defines the price of the modifier when it is a child of

    • Specific Modifiers – One or more specific modifiers.

    • Group of Specific Modifier – Any modifier tagged with one or more specific tags.

    • Both – One or more specific modifiers -OR- any modifier tagged with one or more specific tags.

  2. Select the applicable modifiers and/or tags for this pricing rule. The available fields are determined by the option selected in the previous step.

    • From the Modifiers dropdown, select the modifiers for this pricing rule.

    • Select the tags from the Modifier Tag(s) dropdown. Every modifier associated with the selected tags is included in this pricing rule.

  3. Under the Pricing by Quantity section, select Create to define a new pricing by quantity rule. Repeat these steps to add each quantity range and its respective price.

    • Using the +/- buttons, set the Range Start to the lowest modifier quantity in the range.

    • Using the +/- buttons, set the Range End to the highest modifier quantity in the range.

    • From the Price Adjustment field, select the desired method for adjusting the standard item price.

      • Replace – Replace the standard price with a specified price.

      • Amount - Adjust the standard price by a specified amount when the quantity ordered is within this range.

    • In the Adjustment Value field, type the price/amount by which the price is replaced/adjusted.

Roll Up Parent Pricing

  1. On the Child-Item Pricing Rule form, locate the Roll Up Parent Pricing section.

  2. From the Roll Up Price dropdown, select the applicable option. The selected option determines how the product price is rolled up into a parent product price.

    • Do Not Roll Up - Do not roll up the price to the parent product price.

    • Roll Up After Tax - Roll up the price to the parent product price after tax is applied.

      • Set the Use Alternative Item Price toggle to On to use the price of another item when rolling up the price.

      • From the Select Alternative Item dropdown, select the item with the price to use to calculate what part of the item's price to roll up to the parent product, while the difference will be displayed as the child item price.

    • Roll Up Before Tax - Roll up the price to the parent product price before tax is applied.

Define Conditions

  1. On the Child-Item Pricing Rule form, locate the Conditions section.

  2. Set the Any Order Sources toggle to the desired value:

    • Yes - Apply the rule regardless of the order source.

    • No - Only apply the rule with certain order sources. From the Order Sources dropdown, select the applicable order source(s).

Save the Record

Select Add Modifier Child-Item Pricing Rules to save the child item pricing rule and return to the Pricing page for the modifier.

  • The pricing rule is added to the list of rules in the Child-Item Pricing Rules section.

  • Select and drag the control to the left of each rule to sort the list by lowest-to-highest priority (where the rule at the top of the list has the highest priority).

Define the Vendor Cost of a Modifier

To define how much the modifier costs when purchased from a vendor:

  1. Locate the Cost section of the Pricing page of the modifier record.

  2. In the Cost field, type the vendor cost.

    • Multi-site users: Select the globe icon located to the right of the field to define values for each site.
