Create a Terminal


To create a cashier terminal record:

  1. From the Terminals homepage, select New Terminal.

  2. Define General Settings for a Terminal.

  3. Add Peripheral Devices to a Terminal.

Fields with a red asterisk are required.

To define general settings for a terminal record:

  1. From the menu pane on the left, select General.

  2. In the Terminal Name field, type a name for the terminal.

  3. In the Terminal Number field, type the terminal number.

  4. Set the Active toggle to Active if the terminal record is available for use at the site.

    • Multi-site users: From the right of the field, select the globe icon to define values for each site.

  5. From the Terminal Scheme dropdown, select the order taking scheme to assign to the terminal.


    The dropdown is populated with the records created using the Terminal Scheme editor.

  6. In the Location field, type the location at the site where the physical terminal is located.

  7. In the Tender Button Max field, type the maximum number of pay type buttons to display on the Tender screen of the POS application.

    • If the number of available pay type buttons exceeds the number specified in this field, a More button is added to the Tender screen. The cashier selects the More button to access the pay type buttons that are not displayed.

  8. Toggle Operate with Drawer Open to On to allow the cashier to perform transactions while the physical cash drawer is open.

  9. In the Change Due Override Timeout (Seconds) field, type the number of seconds to display the Change Due popup before the Close button appears.

    • In the event communication with the terminal is disrupted, the cashier selects Close to close the Change Due popup and return to the previous screen.

    • Valid timeout values are from 0-99. The default value is 30.

  10. Toggle Override Cash Threshold Site Preference to Yes to allow this terminal to override the Cash Threshold value defined for the site.

    • In the Cash Threshold Value field, type the maximum currency amount in cash to keep in a drawer before the cashier is prompted to perform a Cash Pull. To allow an unlimited amount of cash, type 0 in this field.

  11. Toggle Allow Multiple Screens to On if the terminal can operate with multiple displays (Windows and Android only). For example, a terminal might operate with a second display for order confirmation.

    • When toggled On, a Secondary Displays section opens. To add one or more browser content URLs for secondary terminal displays:

      • In the upper-right of the Secondary Displays section, select Add Set.

      • In the lower-left of the Secondary Displays Set Options window, select +Add URL.

      • In the URLs field, type the URL for the content to display.

      • Press Enter on the keyboard.

      • After the URL(s) are added, select Save & Close.

  12. In the upper-right of the screen, select Save.

Add Peripheral Devices to a Terminal

Examples of peripheral devices include: printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, and line displays.

To add peripheral devices to a terminal:

  1. From the menu pane on the left, select Peripherals.

  2. From each dropdown, select the peripheral device to add to the terminal.


    Dual cash drawers are only supported in Employee Banking Mode.

  3. Next to the Order Confirmation Board field, select Filtered Destinations to filter the order destinations that are displayed on the order confirmation board (if applicable).

  4. If a physical keyboard is attached to the terminal, toggle Physical Keyboard to On.
