Order Segments

The Order Segment feature enables the cashier to separate and label order items on the order item listbox when more than one customer is added to the same order.

The order segment label (Tray, Seat, or Bag) may vary based on the order destination.

Order Segment States

The following table describes the different order segment states. Visual cues identify active, inactive, and selected order segments.

State

Description

Active

  • All new items added to the order are added to this segment.

  • An active state is only eligible for one order segment at a time.

  • Add an additional segment with one touch.

  • Make this segment inactive by:

    • Removing the segment.

    • Selecting another order segment.

    • Selecting any item within another segment.

Inactive

  • Select the segment, or any item within that segment, to change the state to active.

  • The segment must have an active state before performing an action against it.

Selected

  • The selected order segment is also the active order segment.

  • When a segment is selected, the shortcut to add an additional segment is replaced by a shortcut to remove that segment.

Add a Segmented Order

To add a segmented order:

  1. From the lower-left of the screen, select Options.

  2. From the Options menu, select Create Order With Segments.

  3. From the Number of Guests popup, use the numeric keypad to enter the number of guests on the order.

  4. Select Apply. An order segment is added to the order item listbox for each guest.

  5. From the order item listbox, select a segment.

  6. Select the order items requested.

  7. Repeat Step 5 and Step 6 to complete each segment on the order.

    • Each order segment is labelled with the segment name and its sequential number.

    • The displayed Guest Count reflects the total number of order segments.

Add an Order Segment

To add a segment to an order:

  1. Below the order item listbox, select the order segment button: (Tray, Seat, or Bag).

  2. Select the order items for the segment.

  3. Select the order segment button again to add a new segment.

    • Each order segment is labelled with the segment name and its sequential number.

    • Both the Guest Count and the sequential number displayed on the segment button is incremented automatically with each added segment.

    • The displayed Guest Count reflects the total number of order segments.

Split Order Segments from an Order

Split order segments from their original order to:

  • Create separate new orders.

  • Combine split segments into a new order.

To split order segments from an order:

  1. From the order item listbox, select the order segments.

  2. From the Options menu, select Split Order.

  3. From the Choose an Order Split Method screen, select the desired split method.

    • Cancel - Cancel the operation.

    • Split and Print - Split the order segments and print separate receipts.

    • Split - Split the order segments without printing separate receipts.

Share Item

The Share Item feature allows customers on a segmented order to share one or more items between them and split the price (evenly or unevenly).

Share an Order Item (Even Distribution)

Customers sharing an order item may wish to split the price evenly between them. For example, Seats 1-3 each pay 1/3 of the item price.

To share an order item between order segments and split the item price evenly:

  1. On the order item listbox, locate the order segment that contains the item.

  2. From the order segment, select the item.

  3. From the Actions menu, select Share.

  4. From the Share Item popup, use plus (+) and minus (-) to specify the share distribution for each order segment.

  5. Select Apply.

The following table shows an order item priced at $10.00 shared between three order segments.

The item price is rounded for the last order segment, if necessary.

Share an Order Item (Uneven Distribution)

Customers sharing an order item may wish to split the price unevenly between them. For example, Seat 1 pays 1/3 of the item price and Seat 2 pays 2/3 of the item price.

To share an order item between order segments and split the item price unevenly:

  1. On the order item listbox, locate the order segment that contains the item.

  2. From the order segment, select the item.

  3. From the Actions menu, select Share.

  4. From the Share Item popup, use plus (+) and minus (-) to specify the share distribution for each order segment.

  5. Select Apply.

The following table shows how an order item priced at $10.00 is shared between two order segments. The customer associated with the second order segment is paying 2/3 of the item price.

Remove a Share from an Order Item

To remove one or more order segment shares from an order item:

  1. On the order item listbox, locate the order segment that contains the item.

  2. From the order segment, select the order item.

  3. From the Actions menu, select Share.

  4. From the Share Item popup, select minus (-) next to each order segment to remove the shared item.

  5. Select Apply.

Move Items from an Order Segment

To move order items from one order segment to another:

  1. On the order item listbox, locate the order segment that contains the items.

  2. From the order segment, select the order items.

  3. From the Actions menu, select Move Item(s).

  4. From the Move Items Between Segments popup, select the target order segment. The selected items are moved to the target segment.

Delete an Order Segment

To delete an order segment:

  1. From the order item listbox, select the order segment label.

    • The plus (+ )symbol on the segment button changes to a minus (-) symbol.

  2. Select the minus () symbol on the segment button to delete the order segment.

  3. When prompted to confirm the deletion, select OK.

  4. From the Select Reason window, select the reason for deleting the segment (if applicable).
