Payment Device Settings (OPOS)

To define settings for a payment device with an OPOS connection:

  1. From the Peripheral Type dropdown, select Payment.

  2. From the Peripheral Schema dropdown, select Payment.

  3. From the Connection Type dropdown, select OPOS.

  4. Select Continue.

  5. Locate the Peripheral Type section.

    • Set the Active toggle to Active if the device record is available for use at the site.

    • Multi-site users: To the right of the field, select the globe icon to define values for each site.

  6. Locate the Peripheral Configuration section.

    • In the Peripheral Name field, type a name for the device.

    • From the Payment Platform dropdown, select the processing application used by the device: PAX or HeartSIP

    • From the Vendor dropdown, select the vendor associated with the device.

    • From the Model dropdown, select the device model.

    • Set the Show Tips Dialog toggle to Yes to display the dialog for customer tips when processing a payment for an order.

    • In the Batch Timeout Seconds field, type the number of seconds to wait to successfully process batch settlement commands before timing out.

    • Set the Enable Swipe Ahead toggle to Yes to allow customers to swipe their payment card and type their PIN (or sign for the transaction) before the cashier finishes entering the order. Once the order is entered, the customer approves the order total and the receipt prints. This feature speeds up the order tendering process.

      • This feature is not supported by all devices. If the feature is not supported a message is displayed below the Enable Swipe Ahead toggle.

  7. Locate the Connection Configuration section.

    • In the Logical Name field, identify the name of the file that is linked to the physical device name. The file name specifies the address and physical connection of the device to the system.

    • In the Host Name field, type the name of the host associated with the device.

    • In the Port field, type the port number that is used to connect to the device.
