Create a Peripheral Device

The following describes how to create a new peripheral device record using the Peripherals editor in Data Management. Example peripheral devices include: Cash Drawer, Barcode Scanner, and Printer.

To create a peripheral device:

  1. From the Xenial Portal, select Data Management.

  2. From the Ordering Settings menu, select Hardware.

  3. Select Peripherals.

  4. Select New Peripheral.

  5. Configure the record as needed.

Payment Genius Settings

To define settings for a Genius payment device:

  1. From the Peripheral Type dropdown, select Payment.

  2. From the Peripheral Schema dropdown, select Genius.

  3. Select Continue.

  4. On the General page, locate the Peripheral Type section.

    • Toggle Active to Active if the device record is available for use at the site.

      • Multi-site users: To the right of the field, select the globe icon to define values for each site.

  5. On the General page, locate the Peripheral Configuration section.

    • In the Peripheral Name field, type a name for the device.

    • From the Payment Platform dropdown, select Genius.

    • From the Vendor dropdown, select Genius.

    • From the Model dropdown, select the device model.

    • In the Batch Timeout Seconds field, type the number of seconds to wait to successfully process batch settlement commands before timing out.

    • Toggle Enable SAF to Yes to allow Store and Forward transactions (i.e. transactions that occurred while the PIN pad was offline).

      • In the SAF Port field, type the port number where SAF transactions are communicated.

  6. Locate the Connection Configuration section.

    • In the IP field, type the IP address of the device.

    • In the Port field, type the COM port to which the device is connected.

Payment Moneris Settings (LAN)

To define settings for a Moneris device with a LAN connection:

  1. From the Peripheral Type dropdown, select Payment.

  2. From the Peripheral Schema dropdown, select Payment TranSend.

  3. From the Connection Type dropdown, select LAN.

  4. Select Continue.

  5. On the General page, locate the Peripheral Type section.

    • Toggle Active to Active if the device record is available for use at the site.

    • Multi-site users: To the right of the field, select the globe icon to define values for each site.

  6. On the General page, locate the Peripheral Configuration section.

    • In the Peripheral Name field, type a name for the device.

    • From the Payment Platform dropdown, select Moneris.

    • From the Vendor dropdown, select Verifone.

    • From the Model dropdown, select the device model.

    • Toggle Show Tips Dialog to Yes to display the dialog for customer tips when processing a payment for an order.

    • In the Batch Timeout Seconds field, type the number of seconds to wait to successfully process batch settlement commands before timing out.

    • In the Device ID field, type the device-specific ID.

    • In the Merchant ID field, type the merchant-specific ID used with the Xenil Portal Moneris service.

  7. Locate the Connection Configuration section.

    • In the IP field, type the IP address of the device.

    • In the Port field, type the COM port to which the device is connected.

Fiscal Printer Settings

To define settings for a Fiscal printer:

  1. From the Peripheral Type dropdown, select Fiscal.

  2. From the Peripheral Schema dropdown, select Custom Fiscal system.

  3. Select Continue.

  4. On the General page, locate the Peripheral Type section.

    • Toggle Active to Active if the device record is available for use at the site.

      • Multi-site users: To the right of the field, select the globe icon to define values for each site.

  5. Locate the Peripheral Configuration section.

    • In the Peripheral Name field, type a name for the device.

    • In the Adapter URL field, type the URL that links to the custom adapter.

    • In the Options field, type the adapter configuration in JSON format.

  6. In the upper-right of the screen, select Save.
