Define Pricing for a Modifier

Open the Pricing page of the Modifier List editor to define pricing settings for a modifier including:

  • Standard price

  • Child item price

  • Vendor cost

Define the Standard Modifier Price

To define the standard price for a modifier:

Single-Site User

  1. Locate the Pricing section of the Pricing page of the modifier record.

  2. In the Price field, type the modifier price.

  3. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to On if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the modifier is added to a customer's order.

  4. Set the Open Price toggle to On to prompt the order taker to specify the modifier price at the Ordering application when it is added to an order.

Multi-Site User

  1. Locate the Pricing section of the Pricing page of the modifier record.

  2. To the right of the Price field, select the globe icon to open the Edit Price for Item editor.

  3. In the New Price field for each listed site, type the standard price of the modifier. If the price is the same at all sites, type the price in the Set All field.

  4. Select Review Changes to review the price change(s).

  5. Select Confirm and Close to confirm the price change(s).

    Select the down arrow next to Confirm and Close for additional options:

    • Confirm and Return to View and Edit – Confirm the changes and return to the view and edit screen to make additional changes.

    • Confirm and Duplicate – Confirm the changes and duplicate them for additional sites.

  6. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to On if all applicable taxes are already included in the standard price. Tax will not be applied again when the modifier is added to a customer's order.

  7. Set the Open Price toggle to On to prompt the order taker to specify the modifier price at the Ordering application when it is added to an order.

Define Child Item Pricing for a Modifier

A modifier can be priced differently when ordered as a child item versus when it is ordered à la carte.

To define a child item pricing rule:

Name the Pricing Rule

  1. Locate the Child Item Pricing section on the Price page of the modifier record.

  2. Select Create. The Child Item Pricing Set Options form opens.

  3. In the Name field, type a name for the rule.

Choose the Eligible Parent Products

  1. Locate the Choose Products section of the Child Item Pricing Set Options form.

  2. From the Select Product dropdown menu, select the desired option.

    • Specific Product – Select this option to define the price of the modifier when it is a child of one or more specific products.

    • Group of Products (tags) – Select this option to define the price of the modifier when it is a child of any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

    • Tags and Specific Products – Select this option to define the price of the modifier when it is a child of one or more specific products OR any product tagged with one or more specific tags.

  3. Select the applicable products and/or tags for this child item pricing rule. The available fields are determined by the option selected in the previous step.

    • Select the specific products from the Individual Products dropdown list. When the modifier is ordered as a child of any of the selected products, the child item pricing rule is applied.

    • Select the tags from the Parent Tag(s) dropdown list. Every product associated with the selected tags is an eligible parent item. When the modifier is a child of any of these items, the child item pricing rule is applied.

Define the Child Item Pricing

  1. Locate the Pricing section of the Child Item Pricing Set Options form.

  2. Set the Tax Inclusive toggle to On if the child price includes all applicable taxes. When this option is selected, tax will not be applied again when the modifier is added to a customer's order.

  3. Set the Quantity Based toggle to On to enable the Pricing by Quantity feature. When enabled, the price of the modifier is determined by the quantity that is added to the customer's order.

    For example, the first cup of ketchup provided with an order is free, but each additional cup is $0.50.

  4. Select the Adjustment Value field to specify the price/amount by which the standard price is adjusted.

Note

When the Quantity Based toggle is set to On, the Adjustment Value field is removed from the form.

Configure Pricing by Quantity (optional)

When the Quantity Based toggle is set to On to enable the Pricing by Quantity feature, additional fields are displayed.

  1. From the Modifier Type dropdown list, select the desired option.

    • Specific Modifiers – Select this option to define the price of the modifier when it is a child of one or more specific modifiers.

    • Group of Specific Modifier – Select this option to define the price of the modifier when it is a child of any modifier tagged with one or more specific tags.

    • Both – Select this option to define the price of the modifier when it is a child of one or more specific modifiers OR any modifier tagged with one or more specific tags.

  2. Select the applicable modifiers and/or tags for this pricing rule. The available fields are determined by the option selected in the previous step.

    • From the Modifiers dropdown list, select the modifiers for this pricing rule.

    • Select the tags from the Modifier Tag(s) dropdown list. Every modifier associated with the selected tags is included in this pricing rule.

  3. Under the Pricing by Quantity section, select Create to define a new pricing by quantity rule. Repeat these steps to add each quantity range and its respective price.

    • Using the +/- buttons, set the Range Start to the lowest modifier quantity in the range.

    • Using the +/- buttons, set the Range End to the highest modifier quantity in the range.

    • Select the Adjustment Value field to specify the price/amount by which the price is replaced/adjusted.

Save the Record

Select Done to save the child item pricing rule and return to the Pricing page for the modifier.

Define the Vendor Cost of a Modifier

To define how much the modifier costs when purchased from a vendor:

  1. Locate the Cost section of the Pricing page of the modifier record.

  2. In the Cost field, type the vendor cost.

    • Multi-site users: Select the globe icon located to the right of the field to define values for each site.
