Define Kitchen Settings for a Product

Open the Kitchen page of the Product List editor to define kitchen settings for a product, including:

  • The method to use when routing the product to the kitchen screens.

  • The alternate product name to display on kitchen chits and kitchen screens.

  • Preparation instructions for the kitchen staff.

  • The product ingredients to display in the Ingredient Summary Pane of kitchen screens.

Kitchen Routing Categories

When a routing category is assigned to a product, and that routing category is also assigned to a kitchen display, the product is routed to that display in the kitchen when it is ordered from the Ordering application.

Opmerking

  • Routing categories are selected for kitchen displays using the Kitchen Screen Settings editor.

  • Routing categories are created using the Kitchen Routing Categories editor.

Both of these editors are located in the Kitchen Settings menu of the Data Management.

From the Kitchen Routing dropdown menu, select the desired method for routing the product to the kitchen displays.

  • By Category - Route the product based on specific kitchen routing categories.

  • By Destination - Route the product based on its assigned order destination.

Kitchen Routing by Category

To route a product to kitchen displays based on specific kitchen routing categories:

  1. Locate the Kitchen Routing section on the Kitchen page of the product record.

  2. From the Kitchen Routing dropdown menu, select By Category.

  3. Select Add Set to open the Routing Category window.

  4. From the Routing Categories dropdown, select the kitchen routing categories for the product.

  5. Select Save & Close to save the record and close the Routing Category window.

    • The Save & Close dropdown menu includes the option Save & Assign Sites. Select this option to open an editor to assign the record to one or more sites.

    • After the record is saved, the kitchen routing category set is added to the Kitchen Routing Categories field on the Kitchen page. The Used In column specifies how many sites are assigned to each routing category set.

  6. In the Preparation Instructions field, type product preparation instructions for the kitchen staff. The text in this field may be formatted as needed.

    • Select the image icon The universal image icon. to upload an image to include with the instructions, if desired. Valid image files: PNG, JPEG, and (single frame) GIF

Kitchen Routing by Destination

To route a product to the kitchen displays based on its order destination:

  1. Locate the Kitchen Routing section on the Kitchen page of the product record.

  2. From the Kitchen Routing dropdown menu, select By Destination.

  3. Select Add Set to open the Routing Category by Destination window.

  4. From the Destination dropdown menu, select the order destination.

  5. From the Routing Categories column, select the kitchen routing categories.

  6. Select Save & Close to save the record and close the Routing Category by Destination window.

    • The Save & Close dropdown menu includes the option Save & Assign Sites. Select this option to open an editor to assign the record to one or more sites.

    • The kitchen routing category set is added to the Kitchen Routing Categories by Destination field on the Kitchen page. The Used In column specifies how many sites are assigned to each routing category set.

Alternate Kitchen Product Naming

Specify a shorter product name to print on kitchen chits and display on the kitchen monitors.

  1. Locate the Alternate Kitchen Product Naming section on the Kitchen page of the product record.

  2. In the Alternate Name field, type the alternate product name.

Define Summary Ingredients for a Product

To define the product ingredients to display in the Ingredient Summary Pane of the kitchen screens:

  1. Locate the Summary Ingredients section on the Kitchen page of the product record.

  2. Select Add Ingredients.

  3. From the Add Ingredients popup window, select the ingredients from the ingredient list.

    To add a new ingredient to the list:

    • Select +Add Ingredient to open a secondary Add Ingredient popup window.

    • In the Ingredient Name field, type the name of the ingredient.

    • Select Save.

  4. Select Add [#] Ingredient(s). The ingredients are listed in the Summary Ingredients section.

  5. Select and drag the control to the left of the listed ingredients to sort them in the desired sequence.

  6. In the Quantity field of each listed ingredient, type the quantity that is needed to prepare the product.
